The Fall of Phaeton

Phaethon, son of the sun god Helios, sought to prove his divine heritage by driving his father’s sun chariot. Despite Helios’s warnings, Phaethon lost control, scorching the Earth and freezing the heavens. To save the world, Zeus struck him down with a thunderbolt, sending him to his death in the river Eridanus.
